A Walk at Botallack

The path winds along the cliffs of the Tin Coast, with the iconic Crowns engine houses perched dramatically on the rocks below. The views stretch out across the Atlantic, and on a clear day, it’s hard to beat.
There’s a real sense of history here. The old mining buildings are part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, and the whole area has a rugged, timeless feel. It’s also a filming location for Poldark, which adds a bit of extra atmosphere if you’re a fan.
The walking is straightforward — mostly flat, with a few uneven sections — and dogs are welcome (in some places it’s best to keep them on lead due to steep cliffs). It’s a great spot for a short leg stretch or a longer loop if you’re feeling energetic. From Botallack, you can walk out to Levant and Geevor in one direction, or head towards Cape Cornwall in the other.
There’s a café on site too — the Count House Café — serving homemade Cornish food, including pasties made from a family recipe passed down through three generations. It’s a cosy stop with plenty of character.
A few practical points:
Access is via an unmade track

We’ve taken so many photos here over the years — of the view, the dogs, and the wild Cornish light. It’s one of those places that never feels the same twice, and always worth coming back to.
